Our Story
Authentic Italian Cuisine in Historic Philipsburg

Built in the early 1890s during Philipsburg’s silver-boom heyday, our home at 128 E. Broadway started life as J.C. McLeod’s “exclusive” shoe store, with handcrafted footwear downstairs and professional offices and apartments above. Over the next century the building evolved with the town itself—becoming Joe Appel’s movie house and soda fountain with a bowling alley upstairs, then hosting neighborhood favorites like the Model Bar, Another’s Café and bowling alley, and later the BMI Bar. In 2012 the space was lovingly restored as the Silver Mill Restaurant, showcasing original brick walls, hardwood floors, and a stamped copper ceiling that still glow with mining era character today.
Now, this historic McLeod Building begins a new chapter as Zia's, where guests can enjoy modern food and drink in one of Philipsburg’s most storied spaces.
